2/17/14: SOUTHERN ZANZIBAR: PAJE ON THE EASTERN SHORE

2/17/14: SOUTHERN ZANZIBAR: PAJE.

We had another great breakfast and conversations at our hotel, packed and left to find an ATM.  This was daunting as the first ATMs were out of money! but we spotted a Barclays and were successful.  Very hot.  We walked over to the painter's studio, saw the prepared canvas but he hadn't painted it yet, so we left our extra bag with him and will pick up the painting from him on Thursday plus we chose a Tika Tika animal painting that is gorgeous, with giraffes, wildebeest and hippo.

Jackson, the artist, took us to the bus that took us to the next bus we needed to take to Paje, where a friend of Marshad's met us and took us to the hotel where we are now staying, Arabian Nights.  (Interesting that we just left 1001 Nights).  We swam in the pool, took a walk on the beach, with many windsurfers on the ocean, so walked until we were beyond the surfers and jumped around in the waves, which was fun.  Now we are eating octopus kebabs and Yehduah some beef dish.  We just had a chocolate avocado shake.

I would like to relocate us to the south shore but we have paid for this room already for three nights, a mistake.  It is fairly close to the places we want to be but the south shore is much quieter, no windsurfing, possibility of seeing dolphins from the shoreline.

Otherwise we will go there on a tour.  Yehudah wants to go to the forest close by.  We have two days and one morning, then we go to Dar for Thursday afternoon and Friday.
