Once we reconnected we focused on modern art spaces here:
Museo de Arte y Diseno Contemporaneo - very modern experimental, lots of audio-visual stuff, place art - not particularly my taste.
Stopped by to see Hemingway Inn. We had a lovely tour from the manager, who was delighted to know that the rooms were named after authors rather than fishermen. These folks have just taken over the place.
plus we went to
b. Kiosco SJO - sustainable design and boutique
c. Galeria Andromeda - reminded me of Srule´s art - thick acrylics
d. Jacob Karpio Galeria - This place was closed by Jacob opened the doors for us. He is an art collector, Jewish Indian kirtan leader. We chatted, found that we all knew the Kirtan Rabbi, Andrew Hahn, from NYC. Jacob took us around to a new gallery, EXPO and to a great organic vegetarian restaurant where he left us and we had dinner. We learned lots from Jacob about the Jewish and art scene in San Jose. He splits his time between Bogota, Columbia and here.
We are now clear to get ready to leave very early in the morning for Nicaragua!
And to light our first Chanukah candle in San Jose!!!
